The title page contains the designation, edition year, and title of the standard. The edition year is one in which the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approval was granted; for documents not requiring ANSI approval (e.g., errata, technical reports), the publication year should be used. Until ANSI approval is received, all title pages should be stamped “Tentative, Subject to Revision or Withdrawal.” Codes and Standards Policies CSP-9(a) and (b) contain requirements for title pages on drafts. As a rule, the title page is prepared by ASME staff. See Sample.
